LO4 - D2 Evaluating the flow

I would say that the radio show that we made is similar to what other radio programmes might be like. The main reason for this is that we start with a jingle to let people know who we are and then get right to the point of what we're talking about and attempting to educate them about. We also speak in a formal manner because our radio programme is more of a community news radio, which requires us being more serious/professional while addressing or conversing with our audience. As a result, when we speak, we avoid directly addressing anyone and instead concentrate on the major events occurring at the Doncaster racecourse. Apart from that, we have our advertisement, which is placed in the middle of our programme, as you usually have a segment of listening to the radio before it starts cutting to the advertisements and afterwards tunes back into the radio, which is why we placed it in the centre of our programme so that it has a pause before tuning back into the second part. We also put a sound effect in the advertisement to provide realism while also building up to it.This is why we employ the bell sound effect because it is relevant to our advertisement (Hilton hotel). The notion is that the bell ringing represents someone ringing a hotel's reception bell.

In terms of the strengths for our radio programme, I would say that when we are talking about the different events, we make it clear when each one will be while also making sure that we speak as clear as possible into the mic. This way it makes our recording quality much better and will mean that people will easily be able to hear what we are saying. As well as this due to us practising our recordings first we only have 3 segments of our recordings. This meant that we didn't need to keep stopping and would only stop when the advert is played and then after the advert. The radio show would simply be separated into three sections, but owing to editing, it would sound like one uninterrupted programme. Because we only had three portions, we didn't need to source several pieces of background music or effects in general for the radio programme, which helped with editing. This meant that when editing, we could add background music to the parts that we wanted, such as the first and third recoding parts, as well as a segment for the advertisement.

To address the radio program's flaws, I believe the first thing we could have done is add more content to our radio to make it longer. Instead of describing some of the events, we could have covered them completely or divided them into sections. For example, all of the racing-related vents may be put together and discussed at the same time. This may make it easier because we'd know that all of the vents that are related to one another are connected, making it easier to discuss them all.Another flaw is the sound effects in general. Rather than using the same one for the recordings and two more for the advertisement, we may add more to them. This would mean that instead of using the same sound effects, we'd have a variety of options. Finally, while we sound clear while talking for the recordings, we typically sound uninteresting when talking about the activities, which might become very monotonous for anyone listening if the presenters sound as if they do not really care about the events at the racecourse.
