LO2 - M2

Microphone  A Microphone is used to record the voices so that when it comes to editing our voices will need less editing as the voices will be crisp and in good quality.   As well as this the microphone is easy to operate which means we can quickly set it up and then being records straight away. Also a Mic stand will also be used to keep the microphone out of the way when we are recording as well as a pop filter will be used to block out our breathing so that only our voices will be heard from the microphone. Headphones These are essential so that we can hear how we sound when we're recording what we're saying. This will allow us to determine whether we need to re-record the same section or whether the quality is sufficient to continue on to the next section of our recording. While editing, we'll also need the headphones. The purpose for this is so that we can first hear what we're saying, but also so that when we need to add sound effects, we'll know what they so...

LO2 - Multi Platform Distribution Methods

How are the radio shows distributed to the target audience? BBC Radio Ones primary method of reaching out to their audience is through an internet website that houses all of their material. This is arguably one of the simplest ways to listen to the radio show because all you have to do is type BBC Radio into the Google search bar and it should pop up. Another way it targets its target demographic is through a mobile app of BBC Iplayer which homes all of the BBC channels. In addition to this, they reach out to their audience via radio, with the audience being able to access it on the frequencies ranging from 97-99 FM. These radio stations can be accessed through the BBC Iplayer app on your phone, a real radio, or by searching for the channel on television. They categorise listeners into groups depending on several characteristics such as demographic data in order to deliver their radio programmes to the intended audience. This means that age, gender, language, geography, tastes, hobbies,...

LO4 - D2 Evaluating the flow

I would say that the radio show that we made is similar to what other radio programmes might be like. The main reason for this is that we start with a jingle to let people know who we are and then get right to the point of what we're talking about and attempting to educate them about. We also speak in a formal manner because our radio programme is more of a community news radio, which requires us being more serious/professional while addressing or conversing with our audience. As a result, when we speak, we avoid directly addressing anyone and instead concentrate on the major events occurring at the Doncaster racecourse. Apart from that, we have our advertisement, which is placed in the middle of our programme, as you usually have a segment of listening to the radio before it starts cutting to the advertisements and afterwards tunes back into the radio, which is why we placed it in the centre of our programme so that it has a pause before tuning back into the second part. We also p...

LO4 - Editing Process

In this first screenshot, I had to choose each of the files and then arrange them in the correct order. This is so that when the radio show plays, all of the portions will play in a seamless style and in the order in which we went through the script. It also displays other sound effects that I have added, such as the jingle, which is located in the purpose area on the right of the screenshot. The best method to add these would be to specify each of the files and then place them in the radio programme area. As a result, all of the recordings would be placed in the main section. Because there was too much space in between, I had to edit out a small portion of the audio in this one. I performed this by listening to the green piece of the audio, which is the main recording, and identifying the section that needed to be edited out. After that, I selected that area and clipped it out of the tape so that it would no longer be audible. I then obtained the identical recording and replaced ...

LO3 - D1 Evaluate Codes And Conventions

One way that our radio show mirrors the codes and conventions of a radio show like BBC Radio One is that we have a layout that is similar to theirs. We open our radio show/script with our jingle, identical to what Radio One does. This is so that the radio show may transition into the major material of our show. Following that, we have an introduction to our radio programme so that people will immediately recognise the name of it, which, together with the jingle, will make it far easier for people to acknowledge what they are listening to. We also offer content that is divided up into several portions so that it does not become overpowering. Some examples include the fact that we begin our script with one of the Doncaster racecourse's events, the St Leger. When discussing the event, we begin by stating the date so that people know when to attend, followed by a brief description of the event so that those who attend know what to expect. This would be comparable to how the BBC a...
